HART AND LYNN INLOW TO BE IN WINDSOR LOCKS, CONNECTICUT,
         NOVEMBER 18
 
     The Inlows have been invited to The Windsor Locks Congregational Church, Windsor Locks, Connecticut, on Sunday morning, November 18, to present the work of The Lion of Judah Academy.
     Windsor Locks Congregational has been a key supporter of the school since its inception.  Hart was pastor at this congregation immediately prior to the Inlow’s mission outreach to Tanzania, in 1999.
     They will speak for about ten minutes at both the 9:00 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. worship services, and will be sharing lots of photos and visual images of the school and its ministry.  They will also be available following both services to talk more about the school.
     We’d like to invite all of you who live within driving distance of Windsor Locks to consider visiting that day.  We realize you will have your own Sunday morning commitments, but this will be a good opportunity to learn more about what is currently happening at the school.

STUDENT SCHOLARSHIPS FOR 2008
      As The Lion of Judah Academy grows, so does our need for student scholarships!
      Between a new Awali (kindergarten) class, a new secondary school class, and normal transfers and new students, we are going to need several new student scholarships in January, 2008.
      And, of course, our many students currently on scholarship will have ongoing needs for support.
      Student scholarships are one of the extremely important lifelines of support most of our students have, and The Lion of Judah Academy could not exist without them.
      So…thank you, sponsors, for your faithful gifts and support in the past.  We hope you will be able to continue in the coming year.

SECONDARY SCHOOL PROGRESS
      The Lion of Judah Academy Secondary School welcomed its first class in January, 2007, and is already achieving considerable success and recognition. 
      However, it opened with no building or classrooms of its own.  It has been meeting in the primary school chapel, and in unused rooms at the dormitory.
      Ground was broken for the secondary school buildings in July, 2007, and rapid progress is being made.       
      In fact, the first building (the administration building, which will also include two classrooms) is nearing completion.  It may or may not be ready for use when we welcome a new form 1 class in January, 2008…but it will definitely be in use early in 2008.  A few weeks ago we received photos of progress as of October 1 (check this link).  And now the roof is nearly finished.
      The construction of secondary school facilities will be a challenge for the next few years.  But God has ordained this to happen…and God is faithful.

WATER NEEDS AND SECONDARY SCHOOL ARE CENTRAL PROJECTS FOR 2008
      Making progress on secondary school construction and providing a dependable and efficient supply of water to the school are the major areas of capital development for 2008.
      Construction of the initial secondary school building is nearing completion, which is exciting.  But much remains to be done once that first building is finished:  additional classrooms, laboratories, chapel, library, dormitory facilities and related buildings, all must be constructed.  In addition, the need for teacher housing will grow; as well as the need for athletic fields and other facilities.
      Then there is the fact that the water situation at the school has reached a critical stage.
      We have been blessed to be able to have access to an existing water system in the village.  But the growth of the school has stretched that system far beyond its designed capacity.  It is nearing the breaking point, and we now must make other arrangements.  We must either we make a substantial investment to upgrade the current village system, or we must develop and build our own system.  We suspect that, either way, we are looking at a $20-25,000 investment.  This is something we must address in the very near future.
      Please pray for wisdom, and for God’s provision, for both of these important projects.

COMBINED FEDERAL CAMPAIGN
     Please pass this information along to federal employees, postal employees, and military personnel: the Combined Federal Campaign is in its final days for 2007. The Lion of Judah Ministries is a participant. Our five digit CFC ID number is 12377.
     The CFC (Combined Federal Campaign) is “the world’s largest and most successful annual workplace charity campaign,” and this year the Lion of Judah Ministries is included as a qualified charity.

     “…more than 300 CFC campaigns throughout the country and internationally to help to raise millions of dollars each year. TEACHERS: YOU ARE NEEDED AT THE LION OF JUDAH ACADEMY
     You may or may not have thought about the joys and blessings of spending an extended period of time in the African bush, teaching at a school like The Lion of Judah Academy.
     One way or the other, we invite you to seriously consider it.
     Math and science teachers, for middle school and high school, are especially needed.
     Certification requirements in Tanzania are entirely different than they are here in the U.S. So teacher certification is not necessarily required. However, a college major or strong background in the field is important, as is an interest in and ability to relate to the appropriate age groups and learning levels. Teaching skills are, of course, also important.
     There is no salary with these teaching positions, so a willingness to provide one’s own support, as a “faith based” missionary, is necessary.
     One thing we can virtually guarantee: it will prove to be one of the most rewarding things you have ever done. It will change your life, and the lives of many, many others.

MORE “DIVINE SERENDIPITY”
     Call it whatever you like (Hart likes to refer to it as “divine serendipity”), the hand of the Lord can be seen at work everywhere in the life and development of The Lion of Judah Academy. Nearly a year before the school was started we received a significant donation from a New Jersey church, indicating that the gift was, “for the school you are starting.” That gift arrived when no one knew we were even considering the idea of starting a school!
     Ever since then, moments of divine serendipity have been frequent and common. Here’s one of the recent ones, which we just received word about.
     Mtebe, the headmaster, had made the challenging two-day journey to Dar es Salaam to do the difficult and frustrating work of registering the secondary school with the government offices. It is something which must be done in person by traveling to Dar, and you never know what to expect or how long it will take. He had hoped leaving a week for the process would be sufficient…but that was not to be the case. At the end of the week there was still more work to be completed. He stayed for a little longer…but the process was moving with excruciating slowness
     However, the seventh grade graduation ceremony was only three days away, so he HAD to return to the school…he just could not miss that event.
     Frustrated and discouraged, he made the long trip back, knowing that before long he was going to need to return to Dar es Salaam to complete the registration process.
     Exhausted and wondering why God hadn’t intervened to speed things up while he had been in Dar, he arrived in time to help with final preparations for the graduation and welcome parents and family members arriving for graduation the following day.
     The morning of graduation a camera crew from Tanzania’s national TV station showed up, saying they had heard about the graduation and wanted to take video of the event. Mtebe showed them around the school, as they took lots of footage of the buildings, the children, the work of the school, and so forth, as well as the graduation ceremony, itself.
     That evening, the teachers gathered around the TV at the time for the news, to see if any clips made it onto the broadcast. They were delighted to see that an extended feature about the graduation and the school had been prepared, extolling the features of The Lion of Judah Academy.
     But the real surprise came the following day.
     Mtebe received a telephone call from the Ministry of Education in Dar es Salaam. The people dealing with the school’s registration issue had also seen the feature on national TV. Not only had they been very impressed, but also all the remaining information they needed had been provided – in living color, literally – in that TV presentation. He would not need to return to complete the registration…it was already being ‘fast tracked.’ He would receive the documents promptly.
     God really, “is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us…” (Ephesians 3:20)
     The Lion of Judah Academy is living proof of that truth…and we see evidences of His hand at work day-in and day-out.
